N2 MELIDE-GRANCIA TUNNEL - Main construction works

The renovation of the Melide-Grancia Tunnel is in full swing: The consolidation and safety works carried out inside the two tubes have been completed.

The contract, awarded to Pizzarotti SA, had as its object the rehabilitation of the tunnel extended to the 2 tubes through extraordinary maintenance of the load-bearing structure and the reconstruction of the platforms following the previous and unexpected collapse in 2017 of the lateral lining of the tunnel.

The Melide-Grancia Tunnel is located on the A2 Mendrisio – Lugano Sud motorway section and consists of two 1727 m long tubes with a south-north track and a north-south track, each with a lane and an overtaking lane.

Pizzarotti SA was also pleased to receive the certification of its concrete production plant for production controls.
