Reinstatement of railway section at a Vintu de Jos - Coslariu (Romania)

Sub-contract works have been carried out on Reinstatement and modernisation of the Vintu de Jos – Coslariu section of track.
The general aim of the project is to promote mobility by rail along the Pan-European Corridor IV, by means of reinstating and updating the existing line from Brasov to Simeria.

In particular, the project covers Section 2, Coslariu - Vintu de Jos, with a total length of 34 Km. This section is included in the Coslariu-Simeria line, which in turn is included in the Brasov-Simeria line.

The works are carried out without interruption to railway operations and consist of renovating the railway superstructure and the technological equipment, rebuilding works (bridges, gullies and stations) and constructing new railway lines alongside the existing ones, and building new structures (bridges and gullies).

This updating enables the maximum speed of passenger trains to be increased to 160 km/h and of goods trains to 120 km/h with an improvement in transport safety and environmental protection.
